I began volunteering as a learning support assistant at a local school as a teenager and discovered my passion for education. Over the following years I worked my way up towards a teaching role, improving my skillset as an educator, expanding my responsibilties and breadth of educational experience before becoming a secondary school classroom teacher. This background has ensured that I take a holistic approach to teaching, differentiating learning to best suit the need of my students, while retaining rigourous standards that push them to excel and foster a love for the subject.
My approach to teaching history is always centred on making the topic being studied feel relevant and dynamic to students, giving them an understanding of how it has helped to form and create the world they live in today. This has the added benefit of building up student's cultural capital alongside improving their general historical knowledge and key skills, encouraging them to become active and engaged members of society. I have taught across a range of age groups, capable of conveying key historical principles or exam focused content while ensuring that all lessons are accessible, entertaining and provide insight on how to excel in the subject.
